Exhibition space in an old townhouse

Art Salon is an exhibition space hosting exhibitions of the Ptuj–Ormož Regional Museum and various traveling exhibitions. The building itself at Prešernova 1 is one of the most important examples of the traditional town architecture in the old Ptuj center.

A grotesque black mask was incorporated into a corner of this 16th century building, and the pharmacy that operated in the building for many years was named Pri Zamorcu after it.

PERMANENT EXHIBITION: POETOVIAN PANTHEON, The Spiritual World of Ancient Ptuj

Religion was an indispensable part of ancient life. It also played an important role in the architectural development of cities, as public buildings erected in prominent and important places also included shrines and sanctuary areas.

The Panorama whill as one of the central urban and cult centers of Poetovio. Monuments dedicated to Greco-Roman, Oriental and indigenous deities testify to religious practices.

The exhibition features Nutrice, which testifies to the great power of small deities, Sol, which represents the all-encompassing power, mystery or power of salvation, and other deities of the ancient pantheon.
