Picturesque Jeruzalem
Prlekija is a region between the Drava and Mura rivers. It is a very fertile patch of land, spreading into unobtrusive grain fields out from the right bank of the Mura river and slowly rising into hills like great waves towards the Drava river, where the grain fields are replaced by countless little vineyards. It has long been known for breeding racing horses and recognized for its thermal springs, storks, wind rattles, typical roadside crosses, exceptional cuisine and hospitable people. All this will surely convince you that Prlekija is a true tourist treasure of Slovenia that’s very much worth a visit.
JERUZALEM
Jerusalem is a picturesque village embraced by hilly vineyards that was built around st. Mary’s church from 1652. According to legend, Jeruzalem got its name from returning French
crusaders, who named it after the holy land after experiencing the regions kind people, beautiful nature and of course, divine wine.
THE WINE CELLAR
When visiting the cellar, we will experience the journey of wine from grape to glass in the company of experts. In addition to the pressing hall, the old tanks, wooden barrels and the champagne hall, we will also see one of the largest archive wine cellars in Slovenia.
THE BABIČ WATER MILL
The old Babič Mill on the Mura River in Veržej is the last Pannonian floating mill in the wider Prlekija area. It is a local ethnographic, historical and tourist attraction of the Prlekija region.
THE JERUZALEM SAT OIL MILL
