The residents of Ptuj as well as its visitors can join a series of free guided tours in 2024. Accompanied by an experienced local tour guide, we will uncover Ptuj’s unique stories together.

Mithraeums of Roman Poetovio

Mithraeum I, 16.30 & 17.00
Mithraeum III, 16.30 & 17.00

Poetovio was one of the largest centres of mithraism in Europe. Five shrines have been found in Ptuj so far. In the guided tour, the visitors will learn about the role and meaning of mithraeums and see rare altars with their own eyes.

Parzival – from the knight of the round table to the guardian of the Holy Grail

Location: TIC Ptuj

Parzival is part of the legend of King Arthur’s knights of the round table and the search of the Holy Grail. It is particularly telling that Slovenia’s Štajerska is presented as the homeland of Parzival’s ancestors. During the guided tour, visitors will learn about Parzival’s story and its ties with Ptuj and Štajerska.
