Analysis of Visitor Satisfaction with the Sustainability Aspects of the Ptuj Destination
As part of monitoring visitor satisfaction, respondents’ answers regarding their perception of sustainable practices and sustainability-related information in the Ptuj destination were analysed. The results show that visitors recognise the destination’s sustainability efforts and evaluate them positively.
The highest-rated statement was: “I feel comfortable drinking tap water in the destination.” This result confirms a high level of visitor trust in the quality of drinking water and demonstrates the success of the destination’s efforts to reduce the use of plastic bottles and encourage sustainable habits among visitors.
The second highest-rated statement was related to the availability of waste separation facilities. Visitors believe that the destination provides sufficient infrastructure for responsible waste management, contributing to a well-maintained environment and strengthening environmental awareness.
An equal number of ratings was recorded for the statements concerning the promotion of sustainable mobility options and the availability of information about local gastronomy and local products. The results indicate that visitors recognise the destination’s efforts to develop sustainable transport solutions.
At the same time, they acknowledge the importance of promoting local cuisine and products as an integral part of the visitor experience. This confirms the successful integration of sustainable development principles with the preservation of local identity and support for the local economy.
The statement regarding the availability of information on responsible behaviour within the destination, at attractions, and during events received slightly lower, though still positive, ratings. This result indicates an opportunity to further strengthen communication activities and increase visitor awareness of sustainability principles and responsible conduct during their stay.
Conclusion
The survey results confirm that visitors to Ptuj perceive the destination’s sustainability orientation as an important part of their overall visitor experience. Particularly strong results were recorded in the areas of providing high-quality drinking water, maintaining an effective waste separation system, and promoting sustainable mobility. The positive ratings demonstrate that the destination is successfully achieving its sustainable development objectives while providing visitors with a high-quality, responsible, and authentic tourism experience. At the same time, the results offer a valuable basis for further improvements in informing visitors about responsible behaviour and sustainable practices within the destination.
