Several different fragments of Roman monuments can be found in the corridor of the building at Prešernova Ulica 16, where they were built into the wall. They include three fragments with depictions of animals and six partly preserved inscriptions. Fragments of former Roman monuments were discovered during the building restoration. They were probably used as a building material in the construction of the medieval building. After the discovery, they were returned to the walls of the renovated building. Parts of the inscriptions are too poorly preserved to be deciphered or fully reconstructed. On the first monument from the right, the last letter in the first line is visible – the letter M. The inscription in the top line was probably the acronym I.O.M., which stands for Jupiter Best and Greatest. This shows that the fragment was part of an altar dedicated to the god Jupiter. It is a typical formula found on numerous monuments in Poetovio and throughout the Roman empire.
