The 450 year old vine grows in the oldest section of Maribor and symbolizes excellent local producers – amongst them internationally recognized winemakers and chefs with Michelin recommendations. Maribor invites all visitors that desire an excellent, diverse gastronomical adventure.
House of the Oldest Grapevine reveals the rich and interwoven heritage of wine production, holding a treasure trove of over 200 labels of the best Styrian wines. Its museum is digitalized and provides an one of a kind glimpse into Maribor’s history.
The entire year provides interesting events dedicated to its Guinness Record – from the protocolar cut in spring and the lavish dinner event Žametna večerja med vinogradi, wine evenings in Lent in the warmth of summer, the autumnal Festivala Stare trte with a ceremonial grape harvest, to the largest Saint Martin’s Day celebrations in Slovenia.
