NOTICE OF TEMPORARY TRAFFIC CHANGES DURING PTUJ SUMMER NIGHT AND THE EUROPEAN JUGGLING CONVENTION 2026
During Ptuj Summer Night, the European Juggling Convention (EJC 2026) and the St. Oswald’s Fair, Ptuj will welcome several thousand visitors. As a result, temporary road closures and traffic restrictions will be in place in certain parts of the town.
To make your arrival as smooth as possible and ensure an enjoyable experience for both visitors and residents, we encourage everyone to plan their journey in advance and, whenever possible, choose sustainable modes of transport. Together, we can help reduce traffic congestion and create a more pleasant atmosphere throughout the town.
PTUJ SUMMER NIGHT 2026 (Public Institute Ptuj)
Due to the Ptuj Summer Night event, the following roads and car parks will be fully closed on Friday, 31 July 2026, and Saturday, 1 August 2026:
- Mestni trg (Town Square) and adjoining streets: Ulica Heroja Lacka, Krempljeva ulica, Mestni trg, and Zelenikova ulica – 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.
Slomškova ulica, Miklošičeva ulica, Slovenski trg, and Prešernova ulica (up to the junction with Cankarjeva ulica) – 8:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. - Novi trg car park – closed from Thursday, 30 July 2026, 8:00 p.m. until Sunday, 2 August 2026.
- X-time car park (Osojnikova Street) – closed during Ptuj Summer Night.
Visitors and residents may use the outer parking areas of Supernova Ptuj Shopping Centre between 31 July and 2 August 2026.
EJC 2026 – European Juggling Convention
The European Juggling Convention (EJC 2026) will take place in Ptuj from 1 to 9 August 2026. Due to event logistics and safety requirements, several municipal roads and car parks will be temporarily closed.
FULL ROAD CLOSURES
- From Saturday, 1 August 2026, 7:00 a.m., until Sunday, 9 August 2026, 5:00 p.m., due to the event “Panorama Camp – European Juggling Convention 2026”, the section of Raičeva ulica between the Castle car park and Vičava 1 will be closed.
- PARADE CLOSURE (8 August): On Saturday, 8 August 2026, between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., due to the European Juggling Convention Parade and the Joggling event (reserve parade date: 6 August 2026), the following route will be temporarily closed: Pedestrian Bridge, Zadružni trg, Riverside promenade, Dravska ulica, Cankarjeva ulica, Prešernova ulica, Muzejski trg, Slomškova ulica, Miklošičeva ulica, Murkova ulica, Mestni trg, Krempljeva ulica, Minoritski trg, Zelenikova ulica, Dravska ulica, Ulica Heroja Lacka.
FULL CAR PARK CLOSURES
- Castle car park – 24 July–9 August 2026
- Drava riverside gravel car park (near Pomaranča) – 27 July–9 August 2026
- City Stadium car park (Čučkova ulica) – 30 July–9 August 2026
- Vičava School Centre car park (both sections) – 27 July–9 August 2026
- School Centre and Grammar School car park – 28 July–9 August 2026
- Cestno podjetje car park (right-hand section on Volkmerjeva ulica)– 31 July–9 August 2026
Diversions will be clearly signposted. Please follow the temporary traffic arrangements, traffic signs and instructions given by event organisers and traffic stewards.
Drivers are kindly requested to remove their vehicles before the closures take effect.
OTHER ROAD CLOSURES AND TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
VOLKMERJEVA ROAD RECONSTRUCTION
Roadworks will take place from 26 June to 20 September 2026 on the section between the Lidl junction and the Roman Kiln (Rimska peč) junction.
- Closure of the junction with Peršonova ulica (access available via Ulica 5. prekomorske).
Closure of the access road towards Dr. Ljudevit Pivko Primary School (access via the upper section of Volkmerjeva cesta and Ulica 25. maja).
Diversions via Kraigherjeva ulica, Ulica 5. prekomorske, and the upper section of Volkmerjeva cesta.
Occasional closure of the Lidl junction during construction of the new stormwater drainage connection (works scheduled for weekends to minimise traffic disruption).
PARTIAL CLOSURE – VOLKMERJEVA AND REMČEVA STREETS
- Due to the construction of a fibre-optic network, Volkmerjeva ulica and Remčeva ulica will be partially closed from Friday, 17 July 2026, until Sunday, 30 August 2026.
FULL ROAD CLOSURES FOR THE OŽBALT FAIR (Javne službe Ptuj)
- On 5 August 2026, from 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the following streets will be fully closed: Mestni trg, Krempljeva ulica, Zelenikova ulica, Ulica Heroja Lacka, Murkova ulica, Novi trg, Slovenski trg, Slomškova ulica, Miklošičeva ulica, Prešernova ulica (up to the junction with Cankarjeva ulica), Part of Vinarski trg, Adjacent connecting streets

By choosing sustainable transport, we can help ensure that Ptuj remains welcoming, accessible and enjoyable even during its busiest period.
- Most attractions, event venues, public services and workplaces in Ptuj are within walking distance.
- For shorter trips, choose a bicycle. Free Pecikl bicycles and electric bike rentals are available.
- We recommend using the free city bus service.
- Regional buses and trains provide convenient access to Ptuj without the hassle of finding parking.
- Travel by train and enjoy culture: Holders of a Slovenian Railways ticket receive a 20% discount on admission to the Ptuj-Ormož Regional Museum, Kurent House, and the City Tower.
- If travelling by car, consider carpooling with colleagues, friends or family to reduce the number of vehicles in the town.
- The electric shuttle Zapeljivec can transport up to three passengers through the historic town centre.
- On Saturdays (except 1 August 2026 and in case of bad weather) and Sundays, you can also travel along the Drava River aboard the Čigra tourist boat, connecting Ranca, Gostilna Ribič, and Terme Ptuj.
