Adventures
Ana Nimac, a guide at the Ptuj Cellar, gave us four reasons for visiting the oldest Slovenian wine cellar. They should be enough to help you decide to take a summer walk beneath Ptuj streets.
- The treasury of Ptuj’s vintage wines boasts the oldest preserved Slovenian wine in its collection, Zlata Trta from 1917. You have probably already guessed you can only taste that one with your eyes.
- The cellar has been preserving the tradition of making and selling wine for over 777 years, ever since the Minorites came to Ptuj in 1239. The visit will take you through centuries of winemaking.
- The cellar continues to make exquisite wines, and is the most awarded cellar with over 500 awards from all over the world, including 6 titles as Best National Producer from the AWC Vienna in a row. You can expect to taste some champion wines.
- A guided tour through the cellar will introduce you to the millennia of Ptuj’s affection to fine wine. You will finish the tour with a tasting of your choosing. You can select from fresh, full-bodied, or carefully kept vintage wines, with which you will be served some local delicacies. Summer refreshment for the perfect break.
