Food
Open Kitchen, a unique food market, which won over the Slovenian and international culinary scene, likes to make a stop in Ptuj. It is a real treasure trove of the traditional Slovenian or contemporary cuisine, exotic flavors of far-away countries, and boutique pastries. We talked about the culinary phenomenon called Open Kitchen with the creative couple Alma and Lior Kochavy.
Open Kitchen is a traveling food market, which is on the mission to spoil foodies all over Slovenia. We hear you like returning to Ptuj.
That’s true. Ptuj’s Mestni trg is a unique venue, and the energy at our events is amazing. Our vendors also show a lot of interest in visiting Ptuj, and we love coming back. We are very delighted that on Saturdays, when the Open Kitchen visits Ptuj, other parts of the old town also come alive.
This event is not just about food, it is above all a social event. So does food bring us together?
Absolutely. Just think about it – kitchens are also the hearts of our homes. In the same way as the Open Kitchen turns into the big, tasty center of the city it is visiting. It is a place to meet old and make new friends, a place to explore and have fun. Everyone working at the Open Kitchen are like one big family, putting our hearts into our work. And you can feel this.
Trends change, in fashion and in food. Has Open Kitchen also changed?
Open Kitchen has been changing, while keeping some things the same, especially when it comes to our quality, creative and innovation standards, where we never compromise with our vendors. On the other hand, we keep changing, expanding and updating the list of our vendors. While some of the vendors and their dishes have already become legendary and of course this is not something to be changed, we also put a lot of effort into bringing new, fresh vendors, who present the latest trends across Slovenia.
